Our story
Fifteen years, one toolbox at a time.
Haslett Handyman Company did not start in a boardroom. It started with Jason White, a van and a list of neighbors who needed something fixed properly.
How it started
It began in East Lansing, and it grew by word of mouth.
Jason White started doing handyman work fifteen years ago with his own tools and no marketing budget. Every job taught him something, and every satisfied neighbor told another one. That is still how most of the work arrives.
Those fifteen years were not spent doing one thing. They covered rough-in framing, plumbing and electrical, fine carpentry and the finishing work that decides whether a room looks finished or nearly finished. It is why a single visit can handle a job that would otherwise need three separate trades booked three separate weeks apart.
The company is still family-oriented and still local. We live here, our work is within a short drive, and the people who see it are the people we run into at the hardware store.

How we work
The parts of this job most people only find out about afterwards.
A written quote before anyone starts
The work is set out line by line, with what is excluded written down too. No hourly guesswork, and no invoice that arrives bigger than the conversation.
Change orders in writing, not over the phone
If something turns up once a wall is open — rot behind a tub, a joist that has moved — it is priced as a written change order and you decide before we carry on.
Insurance you can actually check
Fully insured — $1M / $2M general liability. A W-9 and a certificate of insurance go out with every signed quote, without anyone having to ask twice.
Invoices through QuickBooks
Proper invoices with a record behind them, not a number texted at the end of the week.
A 13-point photo-verified turn checklist
Every unit turn is signed off against the same thirteen points, with photographs. Property managers get the condition of the unit on record before the next tenant walks in.
One company, not a chain of subcontractors
Fifteen years across framing, plumbing, electrical, carpentry and finishing means the same people who quoted the job are the people who do it.
Who you will be dealing with
The people who quote the job are the people who do it.
